Frequently Asked Questions:
“Can you ship me beer/wine?” No. Unfortunately there are no exceptions to this rule. Due to Maine legislation, we are not allowed to package alcohol for shipping either locally or nationally. Maine is very strict on this rule and we will under no circumstances risk our business to ship beer or wine. If you are hosting a local event and have made a bulk purchase with us, there are instances where we may be able to deliver this order, but this is on a case by case basis. Please check with us beforehand.
“Do you give discounts on bulk purchases?” Yes. We offer a 10% discount on any case of wine that is not one of our “back wall” specials. A case of wine is 12 bottles at 750mL. The average savings for buying in bulk is around $15.
“What kinds of kegs can you get me?” Lots. There are often to many kegs available to list. We have access to nearly every brand sold in Maine that offers their beer in kegs. In most circumstances, if we have it in a 6 pack, it comes in a keg. There are even some off the wall brands that only offer their beers in kegs and you won’t find them on our shelves. The best bet is to make a list of kegs you are interested in and contact us for availability.
Do you take special item requests? Yes. Even if we don’t have it on our shelves, if we can have distributor access to an item, we can have it available for you in 2-3 business days. Check with us for item availability.
Are there limitations to these requests? Yes. We have distribution access to any item that is legally distributed to the state of Maine. To be distributed in Maine the beer or wine must be carried by a state-licensed distributor and be approved by the Maine Department of Public Safety. Madden Beverage can only get an item for you if it is available through a state licensed distribution channel. If you’ve purchased a specific item in this state then we can most likely have it for you in our store with 2-3 days notice. Remember, some brands are only available in kegs (if you tried it on draft), and all products are subject to distributor availability.
Do you carry gluten-free beer? Yes. Our inventory is ever changing but we make an effort to carry gluten free products with consistency. Remember that most ciders are also gluten free, and we have an extensive selection of those as well.
Can I sample products at Madden Beverage? Sometimes. Madden Beverage is not licensed for on-premise consumption, but we do have select dates when we offer beer or wine tasting opportunities to individuals over the age of 21. The state restricts the number of these events that we can host in a give year, so please keep in touch on our blog or via Facebook if you are interested in attending a beer or wine tasting.
Can I get a case of my favorite beer/wine? Yes. Because we carry many kinds of hard to find beers and wines, it’s a crap shoot as to whether or not we have a full case of any one item on hand. We do our best to keep our inventory fresh and make sure nothing is sitting under the lights for to long, so we will sell what we have on hand, but your best bet is to order in advance if you would like a full case. Please allow us 2-3 days advance notice and remember that certain brands may have longer lead times. All orders are subject to distributor availability and please keep in mind that items may be out of stock at the distributor level, an issue which Madden Beverage is unable to predict or control.
